About the product:
The Forte AP doses by weight to a tenth of a gram or by time to a tenth of a second. Baratza built it to handle anything you throw at it, from espresso to French press. The heart of it is a pair of 54mm ceramic flat burrs, famous for the thick, velvety shots they produce.
We would choose the AP for a home bar where espresso comes first, especially under steamed milk. Baratza itself recommends it for people who drink a lot of espresso, straight or with milk. The PortaHolder ships installed, so the grinder is ready for a portafilter on day one.
How to use:
Slide your portafilter into the PortaHolder and use time mode, because the holder covers the scale platform.
Swap the PortaHolder for the grounds bin when you want to dose by weight for filter coffee.
Set the grind with the macro lever first, then fine tune it with the micro lever while the motor runs.

FAQs:
Q: Can I use the scale with the PortaHolder installed?
A: No. The PortaHolder covers the scale platform, so with a portafilter you dose by time. For weight-based dosing, use the grounds bin.
Q: Will the PortaHolder fit my portafilter?
A: It adjusts. Take it out, loosen the two screws on the back, move the arms to fit your portafilter and tighten the screws gently.
Q: Is the AP only for espresso?
A: No. The manual gives starting points from 2K for espresso to 10M for French press.
